INCIDENT NUMBER: 11705

30 September 2013 at 1143 GMT the GEOS International Emergency Response Coordination Center (IERCC) received a 911/SOS alert from a SPOT device. IERCC personnel contacted the US State Department in Tajikistan and informed them of the activation. The IERCC was able to obtain a private rotary wing aircraft and have it sent to the location of the activation. Once the helo was able to locate the group of kayakers, it was determined that one of the group was suffering a severe medical condition. He was taken to a hospital for immediate treatment.The latest update from the IERCC is the rescued individual has fully recovered and rejoined his group for the remainder of their trip.
