07 May 2015 at 2058 GMT the GEOS International Emergency Response Coordination Center (IERCC) received a 911/SOS alert from a SPOT device in Nome, Alaska.  IERCC personnel contacted local emergency services and informed them of the activation. State Troopers responded to the location and assisted a father and son whose snowmobiles had become disabled causing them to be stranded.  The individuals were transported by helicopter to a secure location.  No injuries reported with this incident.
