13 May 2015 at 0434 GMT the GEOS International Emergency Response Coordination Center (IERCC) received a 911/SOS alert from a SPOT device in Banff National Park, Alberta, Canada.  IERCC personnel contacted local emergency services and informed them of the activation. SAR personnel responded to the location and transported an individual who became hypothermic when he was stranded during a hiking trip. The individual was transported by helicopter to his personal vehicle where he was able to recuperate from his condition.
