21 June 2015 at 1529 GMT the GEOS International Emergency Response Coordination Center (IERCC) received a 911/SOS alert from a SPOT device in Quebec, Canada.  IERCC personnel contacted local emergency services and informed them of the activation. SAR personnel responded to the location and assisted a male who was attacked by a bear resulting in no injuries. He escaped by canoe but found himself stranded.  The individual was transported by helicopter to a secure location.
