18 July 2015 at 1849 GMT the GEOS International Emergency Response Coordination Center (IERCC) received a 911/SOS alert from a SPOT device in Jokkmokk, Sweden.  IERCC personnel contacted local emergency services and informed them of the activation. SAR personnel responded to the location and transported a 28 year old male who suffered from severe mosquito bite infections while out on a hiking trip. The individual was transported by helicopter to the nearest hospital where he received treatment for his condition.
