18 September 2015 at 0248 GMT the GEOS International Emergency Response Coordination Center (IERCC) received a 911/SOS alert from a SPOT device in Rio Arriba County, New Mexico.  IERCC personnel contacted local emergency services and informed them of the activation. SAR personnel responded to the location and transported a 42 year old male sustaining a broken leg from falling off of a horse. The individual was transported by helicopter to a nearby hospital where he was treated for his injury.
