12 March 2016 at 1822 GMT the GEOS International Emergency Response Coordination Center (IERCC) received a 911/SOS alert from a SPOT device in British Columbia, Canada.  IERCC personnel contacted local emergency services and informed them of the activation. SAR personnel responded to the location and transported a 32 year old male suffering from a severe back injury caused by a snowmobile accident. The individual was transported by helicopter to the nearest hospital where he was treated for his injury.
