25 March 2016 at 0504 GMT the GEOS International Emergency Response Coordination Center (IERCC) received a 911/SOS alert from a SPOT device in New Zealand.  IERCC personnel contacted local emergency services and informed them of the activation. SAR personnel responded to the location and transported a male sustaining a broken ankle caused by an accident while hunting. The individual was transported by helicopter to a nearby hospital where he was treated for his injury.
