03 April 2016 at 1747 GMT the GEOS International Emergency Response Coordination Center (IERCC) received a 911/SOS alert from a SPOT device in Alberta, Canada.  IERCC personnel contacted local emergency services and informed them of the activation. SAR personnel responded to the location and transported a male suffering from a broken leg caused by a skiing accident. The individual was transported by helicopter to a waiting ambulance that transported him to the nearest hospital where he was treated.
