04 June 2016 at 1655 GMT the GEOS International Emergency Response Coordination Center (IERCC) received a 911/SOS alert from a SPOT device in Jefferson National Park, Virginia.  IERCC personnel contacted local emergency services and informed them of the activation. SAR personnel responded to the location and transported an individual suffering from a broken femur caused by a snowmobile accident. The individual was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital for treatment.
