10 June 2016 at 1115 GMT the GEOS International Emergency Response Coordination Center (IERCC) received a 911/SOS alert from a SPOT device in Pierce County, Washington.  IERCC personnel contacted local emergency services and informed them of the activation. SAR personnel responded to the location and transported two individuals who became stranded and unable to continue their hiking trip due to severe weather conditions. The individuals were transported by helicopter to a secure location. No injuries were reported with this incident.
