21 June 2016 at 0741 GMT the GEOS International Emergency Response Coordination Center (IERCC) received a 911/SOS alert from a SPOT device in Iceland.  IERCC personnel contacted local emergency services and informed them of the activation. SAR personnel responded to the location and transported two individuals who became stranded and unable to continue on their hike due to severe weather conditions. The individuals were transported by vehicle to a secure location. No injuries were reported with this incident.
