21 June 2016 at 1827 GMT the GEOS International Emergency Response Coordination Center (IERCC) received a 911/SOS alert from a SPOT device in Nunavut, Canada.  IERCC personnel contacted local emergency services and informed them of the activation. SAR personnel responded to the location and transported a male suffering from a broken leg and broken ribs caused by a snowmobile accident. The individual was transported by helicopter to the nearest hospital where he was treated for his injuries.
