23 June 2016 at 1928 GMT the GEOS International Emergency Response Coordination Center (IERCC) received a 911/SOS alert from a SPOT device in the Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona.  IERCC personnel contacted local emergency services and informed them of the activation. SAR personnel responded to the location and transported a 72 year old male suffering dehydration while out on a hiking trip. The individual was transported by helicopter to the nearest hospital where he was treated.
