24 June 2016 at 2139 GMT the GEOS International Emergency Response Coordination Center (IERCC) received a 911/SOS alert from a SPOT device in British Columbia, Canada.  IERCC personnel contacted local emergency services and informed them of the activation. SAR personnel responded to the location and transported a female suffering a broken leg caused by an accident while on a backpacking trip. The individual was transported by helicopter to the nearest hospital where she was treated for her injury.
