09 July 2016 at 0812 GMT the GEOS International Emergency Response Coordination Center (IERCC) received a 911/SOS alert from a SPOT device in Chamonix, France.  IERCC personnel contacted local emergency services and informed them of the activation. SAR personnel responded to the location and transported two 19-year-old males who became stuck and unable to continue their hike. The individuals were transported by helicopter to a secure location. No injuries were reported with this incident.
