26 July 2016 at 2225 GMT the GEOS International Emergency Response Coordination Center (IERCC) received a 911/SOS alert from a SPOT device in Sequoia National Park, California.  IERCC personnel contacted local emergency services and informed them of the activation. SAR personnel responded to the location and transported a 72-year-old male sustaining a hip injury while out on a hiking trip. The individual was transported by helicopter to the nearest hospital where he was treated.
