24 August 2016 at 2030 GMT the GEOS International Emergency Response Coordination Center (IERCC) received a 911/SOS alert from a SPOT device in British Columbia, Canada.  IERCC personnel contacted local emergency services and informed them of the activation. SAR personnel responded to the location and transported a 53-year-old female sustaining an injured wrist while out hiking. The individual was transported by helicopter to the nearest hospital where her injury was treated.
