08 October 2016 at 1336 GMT the GEOS International Emergency Response Coordination Center (IERCC) received a 911/SOS alert from a SPOT device in British Columbia, Canada.   IERCC personnel contacted local emergency services and informed them of the activation. SAR personnel responded to the location and transported two individuals who were unable to continue on their hiking expedition due to bad weather. The individuals were transported by helicopter to a secure location. No injuries were reported with this incident.
