16 October 2016 at 2115 GMT the GEOS International Emergency Response Coordination Center (IERCC) received a 911/SOS alert from a SPOT device in Lake Mead National Park, Nevada.  IERCC personnel contacted local emergency services and informed them of the activation. SAR personnel responded to the location and transported 32 individuals who became stranded and unable to continue their hiking trip. The individuals were transported by rescue vessel to a secure location. No injuries were reported with this incident.
