23 October 2016 at 0305 GMT the GEOS International Emergency Response Coordination Center (IERCC) received a 911/SOS alert from a SPOT device in the Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona.  IERCC personnel contacted local emergency services and informed them of the activation. SAR personnel responded to the location and transported two males who became stranded and unable to continue their hiking trip. The individuals were transported by helicopter to a secure location. No injuries were reported with this incident.
