10 November 2016 at 0037 GMT the GEOS International Emergency Response Coordination Center (IERCC) received a 911/SOS alert from a SPOT device in New Zealand.  IERCC personnel contacted local emergency services and informed them of the activation. SAR personnel responded to the location and transported an individual sustaining an injured leg due to a paragliding accident. The individual was transported by helicopter to a nearby hospital where their injury was treated.
