03 December 2016 at 1831 GMT the GEOS International Emergency Response Coordination Center (IERCC) received a 911/SOS alert from a SPOT device in British Columbia, Canada.  IERCC personnel contacted local emergency services and informed them of the activation. SAR personnel responded to the location and transported an individual sustaining a broken leg caused by a skiing accident. The individual was transported by snowmobile to a waiting ambulance that transported him to a nearby hospital where he was treated for his injury.
