18 July 2016 at 1646 GMT the GEOS International Emergency Response Coordination Center (IERCC) received a 911/SOS alert from a SPOT device in Sequoia Kings National Park, California.  IERCC personnel contacted local emergency services and informed them of the activation. SAR personnel responded to the location and transported a 40-year-old male who sustained a leg injury while on a hiking trip. The male was transported by a helicopter to an ambulance that transported him to a nearby hospital where he was treated for his injury.
