10 December 2016 at 2157 GMT the GEOS International Emergency Response Coordination Center (IERCC) received a 911/SOS alert from a SPOT device in British Columbia, Canada.  IERCC personnel contacted local emergency services and informed them of the activation. SAR personnel responded to the location and transported a 16-year-old male sustaining a hip and arm injury caused by an accident while hiking. The individual was transported by helicopter to a nearby hospital where his injuries were treated.
