20 December 2016 at 1946 GMT the GEOS International Emergency Response Coordination Center (IERCC) received a 911/SOS alert from a SPOT device in Alberta, Canada.  IERCC personnel contacted local emergency services and informed them of the activation. SAR personnel responded to the location and transported two individuals sustaining unknown injuries due to an accident while rock climbing. The individuals were transported by helicopter to a waiting ambulance that transported them to a nearby hospital where they were treated.
