14 January 2017 at 2026 GMT the GEOS International Emergency Response Coordination Center (IERCC) received a 911/SOS alert from a SPOT device in White River National Forest, Colorado.  IERCC personnel contacted local emergency services and informed them of the activation. SAR personnel responded to the location and transported a 43-year-old male sustaining a back injury caused by a snowmobile accident. The individual was transported by ambulance to the nearest hospital where his injury was treated.
