11 February 2017 at 2108 GMT the GEOS International Emergency Response Coordination Center (IERCC) received a 911/SOS alert from a SPOT device in Death Valley National Park, California.   IERCC personnel contacted local emergency services and informed them of the activation. SAR personnel responded to the location and transported an individual sustaining unknown injuries while out riding a motorcycle. The individual was transported by ambulance to the nearest hospital where they were treated.
