30 April 2017 at 2315 GMT the GEOS International Emergency Response Coordination Center (IERCC) received a 911/SOS alert from a SPOT device in Nova Scotia, Canada. IERCC personnel contacted local emergency services and informed them of the activation. SAR personnel responded to the location and transported an individual suffering from hypothermia and exposure while out on a hiking trip with 3 other people. The individual was transported by helicopter to a nearby hospital where she was treated.
