10 May 2017 at 1846 GMT the GEOS International Emergency Response Coordination Center (IERCC) received a 911/SOS alert from a SPOT device in British Columbia, Canada. IERCC personnel contacted local emergency services and informed them of the activation. SAR personnel responded to the location and transported a group of 5 hikers who had run out of supplies. The individuals were picked up by a float plane and taken to a nearby cabin where a water taxi picked them up and transported them back to their vehicles. No injuries to report.
