18 July 2015 at 0046 GMT the GEOS International Emergency Response Coordination Center (IERCC) received a 911/SOS alert from a DeLorme inReach device in Sequoia National Park, California.   IERCC personnel contacted local emergency services and informed them of the activation. Park rangers responded to the location on horseback and transported a 54 year old male who injured his ankle while on a hiking trip. Park rangers transported the group of individuals by horseback to a secure location.
