26 February 2016 at 2111 GMT the GEOS International Emergency Response Coordination Center (IERCC) received a 911/SOS alert from a Garmin inReach device in British Columbia, Canada.   IERCC personnel contacted local emergency services and informed them of the activation. SAR personnel responded to the location and transported a 46 year old male sustaining a broken leg while on a hiking trip. The individual was transported by helicopter to a nearby hospital where he was treated for his injury.
