01 April 2016 at 0039 GMT the GEOS International Emergency Response Coordination Center (IERCC) received a 911/SOS alert from a Garmin inReach device in Big Bend National Park, Texas.   IERCC personnel contacted local emergency services and informed them of the activation. SAR personnel responded to the location and transported a 17 year old male who sustained an injured ankle caused by an accident while hiking. The individual was assisted by a SAR team on horseback and transported to a secure location.
