02 April 2016 at 2235 GMT the GEOS International Emergency Response Coordination Center (IERCC) received a 911/SOS alert from a Garmin inReach device in Napa County, California.   IERCC personnel contacted local emergency services and informed them of the activation. SAR personnel responded to the location and transported an individual sustaining an injured ankle caused by an accident while hiking. The individual was transported by helicopter to a waiting ambulance that transported them to a nearby hospital where they were treated for their injury.
