28 June 2016 at 1443 GMT the GEOS International Emergency Response Coordination Center (IERCC) received a 911/SOS alert from an InReach device in Sequoia National Park, California.   IERCC personnel contacted local emergency services and informed them of the activation. SAR personnel responded to the location and transported a teenage boy suffering abdominal pain and lethargy. The individual was transported by helicopter to a waiting ambulance that transported him to the nearest hospital where he was treated for his condition.
