02 July 2016 at 2041 GMT the GEOS International Emergency Response Coordination Center (IERCC) received a 911/SOS alert from a InReach device in British Columbia, Canada.   IERCC personnel contacted local emergency services and informed them of the activation. SAR personnel responded to the location and transported a 46-year-old female sustaining a severe head injury due to getting hit by a boulder while out on a hiking trip. The individual was transported by helicopter to the nearest hospital where she was treated for her injury.
