03 July 2016 at 2231 GMT the GEOS International Emergency Response Coordination Center (IERCC) received a 911/SOS alert from a InReach device in Mount Rainier National Park, Washington.   IERCC personnel contacted local emergency services and informed them of the activation. SAR personnel responded to the location and transported a 46-year-old male suffering from severe head and arm injuries caused by falling into a crevasse while hiking. The individual was transported by helicopter to the nearest hospital where he was treated for his injuries.
