31 July 2016 at 2135 GMT the GEOS International Emergency Response Coordination Center (IERCC) received a 911/SOS alert from a InReach device in Jefferson County, Oregon.   IERCC personnel contacted local emergency services and informed them of the activation. SAR personnel responded to the location and transported a 56-year-old male sustaining an ankle injury caused by an accident while hiking. The individual was transported by helicopter to the nearest hospital where he was treated for his injury.
