04 September 2016 at 2335 GMT the GEOS International Emergency Response Coordination Center (IERCC) received a 911/SOS alert from an InReach device in Kings Canyon National Park, California.   IERCC personnel contacted local emergency services and informed them of the activation. SAR personnel responded to the location and transported a 57-year-old female sustaining broken ribs caused by an accident while hiking. The individual was transported by helicopter to a waiting ambulance that transported her to a nearby hospital where her injuries were treated.
