05 January 2017 at 2303 GMT the GEOS International Emergency Response Coordination Center (IERCC) received a 911/SOS alert from an InReach device in Glacier National Park, Montana.   IERCC personnel contacted local emergency services and informed them of the activation. SAR personnel responded to the location and transported a 36-year-old male suffering multiple injuries due to being caught in an avalanche. The individual was transported by helicopter to the nearest hospital where he received treatment.
