06 January 2017 at 1500 GMT the GEOS International Emergency Response Coordination Center (IERCC) received a 911/SOS alert from an InReach device in Big Bend National Park, Texas.   IERCC personnel contacted local emergency services and informed them of the activation. SAR personnel responded to the location and transported four individuals who were unable to continue their hike due to one of the members of the group injuring their ankle. The individuals were escorted to their vehicle by rangers.
