31 March 2017 at 2156 GMT the GEOS International Emergency Response Coordination Center (IERCC) received a 911/SOS alert from an InReach device in Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. IERCC personnel contacted local emergency services and informed them of the activation. SAR personnel responded to the location and transported a 50-year-old male sustaining 2nd degree burns from a pot of boiling water. The individual was transported by aircraft to the nearest hospital where his injury was treated.
