18 April 2017 at 2357 GMT the GEOS International Emergency Response Coordination Center (IERCC) received a 911/SOS alert from an InReach device in the Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona. IERCC personnel contacted the Grand Canyon National Park Dispatch and informed them of the activation. The Grand Canyon National Park SAR personnel responded to the location and transported a 33-year-old male sustaining a dislocated ankle while hiking. The individual was evacuated by helicopter to a waiting ambulance then taken to the hospital where his injury was treated.
