22 April 2017 at 1830 GMT the GEOS International Emergency Response Coordination Center (IERCC) received a 911/SOS alert from an InReach device in British Columbia, Canada. IERCC personnel contacted local emergency services and informed them of the activation. SAR personnel responded to the location and transported a 37-year-old male sustaining a broken ankle while sledding. The individual was evacuated by helicopter to a waiting ambulance and then taken to the nearest hospital where his injury was treated.
